Harry Woodrow likes to take selfies. But he does it while wearing a specially constructed reflective box on his head. The artist therefore becomes a mirror, leaving us with an image in which the mirrored box can often be seen clearly, along with the iPhone taking the picture and the scene of whatever is in front of him. This book contains 76 examples of these recursive images, part of an ongoing project that Woodrow started in 2015 by posting them on a dedicated Instagram account. In addition, ‘#selfies’ includes a conversation between Woodrow and curator Nora Arrhenius Hagdahl on the role of the selfie in today’s society, plus an essay by artist and writer David Price.
